Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Power of Attorney

I would like to know if someone besides myself can get a copy of a birth certificate without a power of attorney form. I live in one state and I need to get a copy of my daughters birth certificate from another state. My sister is willing to get it and mail it to me but we are not sure if we need to have legal documents to do so. And if we do, what exactly do we need to do this? Thank you for your

time and cooperation.

Re: Power of Attorney

Birth certificates and death certificates are public records. Therefore, you do not need a power of attorney to obtain a birth certificate. You will need the fee and the county where the child was born in order to obtain the birth certificate.

Good luck!
