Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

verbal abuse while going through a divorce

hi, i would like to know what i can do to help a friend of mine. her parents are going through there second divorce and it's taking a very long time. the process has lasted since 2 years ago and the estimate of time until it will be official is roughly a year. throughout this time she must visit both of her parents. what i would like to know is if there is any way to speed up the divorce process or change her custody to her mother full time. she is terrified to go to her fathers house becuase he verbally abuses her. I, and others who know of the situation have found this to be an unsafe environment and would like to know the fastest way to get her out of this joint custody becuase we are scared that while going through the process of correcting the situation, the abuse will become more intense. any advice you have would be greatly appreciated thank you.

Re: verbal abuse while going through a divorce

If the abuse is serious enough contact children's services. If you have first hand knowledge of abuse by the father, you may want to contact her mom's attorney. Otherwise, the only people with the power to speed up the divorce process are her parents, and they can do this by cooperating.
