Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

ex wife used dentist not covered by my plan

My ex wife took our three children to a dentist that is not covered under the dental insurance plan I am required to carry. I have received a bill for $650 for x-rays and cleanings from the dental office. Three questions: Is the dental office responsible to notify that work is not covered...should they not know that they do not accept Aenta? Is ex responsible since she neglected to call 800# to find a covered provider? How can the dentist office put and send the bill to me when I did not authorize the work? What can I do about this??

Re: ex wife used dentist not covered by my plan

First re-read your shared parenting plan re: dental costs of the children. Your SSP may not be clear enough and might need a modification. Depending upon how you agreed the split the bills with their mother, inform the dentist. Find out why you hadn't been contacted. I think you will learn that the office was not put on notice about your arrangement with the children. If the dentist was not put on notice, it is not the dentist's responsibility to get prior approval from you.
