Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Ohio

My cousin has filed a lawsuit against me because I was the beneficiary of a life insurance policy of a deceased relative. My cousin wanted me to give him some of the money. When I refused he sued me for over 100,000. Do I have to do the financial disclosure form that his attorney sent? I don't understand why he thinks he has a claim on the money from the policy. We are in Ohio.

Dear Defendant: The facts you provide do not permit a proper response to your inquiry. Nevertheless, you should retain an Attorney rto represent you and to advise you in these matters, since your lack of legal counsel deprives you of the opportunity to defend your rights.

Do not delay, since your response is required within a certain time limitation. I recommend you retain legal counsel ASAP. Good luck. Sincerely, J. Norman Stark.

If you're the beneficiary no one has the authority to demand it. If you've been sued you have to Answer the complaint within 28 days. Even if the case is not legitimate, you could lose if you don't answer. Then, once you have answered the complaint you can resist the Discovery request with your own motion dismissing the entire complaint. Call me directly for more guidance if you want 216.952.1990.
