Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Ohio

Lacking original canceled check - still have case?

I lent my now ex-fiance money to help start up a business, and as you can probably guess, he took advantage of me. He's made a couple of payments, but he still owes me over $500 and won't pay me anymore. He says that I'll never win in court because I don't have the original canceled check, only a copy of it made by my bank. The reason I don't have the check is because my bank no longer gives me the originals, only copies. I have copies of checks he has sent showing he made payments to me, as well as copies of emails he has sent me and notes included in those checks. Is this enough to win in small claims court?

You have enough...go get him...there are no guarantees in law, but you should win !
