I have a 4 year old son who has many development delays, I had some problems with my induction which resulted in an emergent c-section. Is this worth looking into?

Short answer is yes. If you had a relatively normal pregnancy and then had problems during labor resulting in an emergency c-section the labor and delivery records, fetal monitoring strips and the newborn records are very important. Any head films such as CT scans will also need to be obtained. If you would like to talk further I would be happy to help. These cases are very complicated and require careful review by experts. Please feel free to contact me and check out my web site for further information at www.beckermishkind.com. I am out of the city but you can ask for my nurse Leslie if you should call or feel free to email me directly at [email protected]. There is no cost to you to obtain the information and if there is no case you will not owe an attorney anything for their time.

I am sorry to hear about your son's problems. I need more information before I can answer your questions. Has your son been diagnosed with a specific condition? Is he considered to be suffering from PPDD (pervasive developmental disorder) such as autism? Age 3 to 4, especially for boys, is when this diagnosis can usually be made.

I have dealt with a number of birth cases where the child ends up with cerebral palsey because of inadequate oxygen or some other problem prior to or during birth. If your son has CP, this could be related to a problem during his birth.

There are a number of other develpomental problems that are associated with birth trauma or other related problems. Anyone who offers to assist you in your efforts will need more specific information regarding the issues that you and your son are dealing with.

Mr. Mishkind is probaly correct. It is highly likely that a short telephone call will provide information that will indicate that your case warrants further investigation. An attorney will get information from you and obtain copies of the medical records from the hospital and doctor. This information will be turned over to a knowledgable and respected physician who will be asked to do a careful evaluation of the medical care and treatment. If the doctor feels that the care that was received was not within the normal standard of care and that the substandard care was a cause of injury to you or your son then you can decide to go ahead with a claim.

I will be happy to go over your case with you in more detail if you want to give me a call. There is no charge or obligation for the telephone conference and if we decide that I can help you, there is no charge to handle your case unless I can get some money to help with the care of your son.

The number of children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders has increased at an alarming rate over the last 10 to 15 years. This is especially true for boys who are 3 to 4 times more likely to be on the spectrum than girls. I have some information regarding this topic that I will be happy to share with you if your son is considered to be on the spectrum.

In any event I hope that you and your son will be able to find the help that you will need.

Regards
