Legal Question in Personal Injury in Ohio

Auto accident injury compensation

a person ran a stop sign causing us to crash. medical bills between $5,000 & $7500 are being taken care of. I was diagnosed with a deep contusion to my chest. Nothing is broken. What would be a ballpark figure for my injury settlement with the other person's auto insurance company?

Thank you

Re: Auto accident injury compensation

We take the total amount of medical expenses and multiply that number by five...that is, AFTER you are completely healed. We do not settle for less than three times the expenses, as this formula accounts for pain and suffering.

Add to this number the actual amount of other losses like lost employment and other related expenses..

You cannot settle a case until you know you have the right number as the total of your medical expenses. You have enough injuries to need a lawyer. Most take 1/3 of the total settlement.

Most important is to discover what the tortfeasor's insurance cap number is, and whether your underinsured insurance will need to kick in.

In order to properly assess your case, the exact amount of medical damages need to be determined in addition to any out-of pocket costs and lost income. Normally three to five times medicals are appropriate but I would contact a lawyer to ensure money is not being left on the table. Feel free to email if additional questions.

The amount of your damages (money that you are entitled to ) should be based on the seriousness of your injury, pain, scarring, disability, etc. Sometimes this is reflected in the amount of medical care that you need and sometimes not! Don't settle until you are sure that you know what your injuries are and what treatment you may need in the future. How much? ALL THAT YOU ARE ENTITLED TO!!
