Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Ohio

My father in law recently passed away, he was remarried and my husbands step father, does my husband have any right to see the will? they did own property together, and I was told that our son was left an insurance policy, the widow has informed us that she does not have to file the will.

Money from an insurance policy does not pass through probate court. However, the insurance carrier should be contacting the beneficiary, who might be your son, when they are informed of your step-father's death. Assets that pass through a will requires that the will be filed with probate court. When that happens, the will is a public document for all to see.
