Re: Warrents

The way the county informs you of an arrest warrant is by arresting you. They typically will not give you a courtesy call or any type of notice. You can check OSCN, the Oklahoma State Court Network, to see if an arrest warrant has been issued or to see if charges have been filed. Some county sheriff's offices have a warrants database that can be searched on the internet.

If you are a suspect, or you think charges will soon be filed, you should hire a criminal defense attorney now, before the charges are filed. Your attorney can begin negotiating with the district attorney's office and perhaps convincing them to file lesser charges or convincing them to not file charges at all. Your attorney can also arrange for your peaceful surrender to the police. This prevents any violence from occurring and it also increases the chances that a judge will give the accused a reasonable bond.
