Legal Question in Business Law in Oregon

I live in Salem, Oregon. My husband and I just opened a photograph studio in a space in the mall, and we have been having issues with the toilet in that space. We just opened the first of April and the toilet had backed up twice now, but its plugged below the toilet a few feet under ground. When we had it fixed the first time, the guy said something was wrong with the piping because the snake kept catching on part of it, which is why the toilet keeps backing up. Corporate is tell us that because we are a branch of the main mall line, that we have to pay for any repairs. So my question is: can they legally make us pay for this even though its existing issue from before we moved in, and the problem is below ground?

It depends on your contract with the mall. You should read the contract. It is likely that plumbing is not your responsibility, but it depends on the contract.
