Legal Question in Family Law in Oregon

My boyfriend and I have lived together for 5 years we have a three year old together. I have wanted to leave for a very lomg time, we dont get along he has a drinking problem. I have tried to get him to leave but he makes it a fight and threatens to take my son and leave. We both have long job history however I do earn more than him. I dont have family support here but he does. What is my chances of retaining full custody?

Physical custody more often than not will go the the primary caretaker. So if someone has been generally in charge of feeding, care, bath time, scheduling, of the child that person will most likley get custody. However, if there are drug or alcohol abuse issues that definitely plays into the equation. Needless to say, there is no way of giving you a competent answer without knowing more about the situation. One thing that generally doesn't matter is who earns more money.
