Legal Question in Legal Malpractice in Oregon

I have recently been given a very inaccurate inspection for an automobile. They actually lied about the current status of my brakes to get me to replace them. Turns out the brakes were no where near as bad as they said and did not need replacing. Is there a law against this and is there any legal action I can take?

I assume it was the repair shop or auto dealer who did the inspection and then charged you for the repairs. The only legal action you can take is to file an action in small claims court for fraud. You can ask to make the shop pay you whatever damages or harm you suffered, up to $10,000. Since the amount of damages you suffered is probably a couple of hundred dollars at most, it will take you more time and effort to file and pursue the case than it will be worth to you.

You can also file a complaint with the Attorney General of Oregon, but unless there are dozens of complaints against the same shop, it is highly unlikely any action will be taken.
