Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Pennsylvania

chapter 13

have $60,000 in credit card debt. Saw an attorney who told us we should file chapter 13 and he could get our payments at $400 - $500 a month which is re-paying about $30,000. He just filed in Jan 09 and we just heard our payments will be $1,000 a month. We have not had our meeting of creditors yet, but now feel like he has been dishonest this whole time. Why pay back 100% of all credit cards, which wil be $60,000. That is all we have, no house, a leased car and a motorcycle that we are making payments on still. Nothing else. Can we stop Chap 13 now without penalty? What will attorney do to us?

Re: chapter 13

Ask your attorney the pros and cons of converting to Chapter 7. The filing fee already is paid, the same forms are used, and a Ch. 7 is less work than a Ch. 13, so you should not be starting over with new fees. You may need to go through credit counseling if you have not already done so.
