Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Pennsylvania

wife's debt

If a wife has her own credit cards can she file for bankruptcy without harming husbands credit? Should husband remove her name from his checking account? If husband is an authorized user on one of her credit cards with no balance will this affect his credit? If wife is co-signer on car loan with husband, he did not need her for loan to be approved, will this affect his credit? Thank-You

Re: wife's debt

Credit reports are based on social security numbers and therefore are unique. Only your debt can negatively effect your credit.

However, occasionally, creditors will report to a co debtors report the fact that a co debtor filed a bankruptcy. As long as the debt for which the co debtor was liable is not in default, your credit will not be harmed.

Regarding the bank account, the issue is the balance. If there is more than $8,000.00 in there, a question arises about whether it is your wifes property.
