Legal Question in Consumer Law in Pennsylvania

accountant never completed work and caused credit problems

I hired an accountant (an ea

actually) to help file some back tax

returns. I paid in full ($10k) and he

became unresponsive and did not do

the work he performed. I still have

the contract, but the work was never

finished.

In addition, he assured me that he

had things handled and I would not

receive a lien or negative credit due

to this. However, due to his negligence, the IRS imposed a lien

which has now gone into my credit

rating, causing me to not be

extended credit by any company.

My credit score dropped by nearly 80

points due to his negligence. What

can I do to at the very least get my

money back?

Thanks.

Re: accountant never completed work and caused credit problems

you paid $10,000.00 to an individual to perform a service. He did not do the work or at least did not perform all the services as requested. In addition you had a lien filed against you and a negative credit action. seems you have a claim for negligence as well as breach of contract. You can sue the person in either small calims or if the amount exceeds the jurisdictional amount of that court then file a suit in common pleas court. If you would like to discuss it with me at my office call to set up an appointment
