Legal Question in Consumer Law in Pennsylvania

Weight loss centers

I joined an L.A. Wt.Loss Center. I was NEVER fully informed of their procedures or costs. I feel that they have taken advantage of my desperation, low self esteem, vulnerability and ignorance of their particular procedures.

I was never told any prices, but merely asked if I was interested. After leaving there, I realize how I was duped. I overlooked the first time, however, I've discovered that EVERY TIME I go back, I get duped AGAIN.

They have OVER SOLD me several items, which I will DEFINITELY NOT NEED. Their methods of racking up commissions for themselves is very deceptive. The customer goes there with faith and confidence in them that the customer's needs to lose weight will be their main objective. This is NOT TRUE. It's been proven that their main objectives are to take advantage of the customer, and SELL PRODUCTS. I NOW HAVE over 500 days worth of their LA LITES, which I was led to believe that I would NEED. I'm to reach goal weight in 5 or 6 months -- therefore, I should only need 180 days worth, plus a few for maintenance. They did the same thing with their Vitamins, etc. They take extreme advantage of the customer's ignorance and desire to lose weight, and rack up commission. Isn't this deceptive sales?

Re: Weight loss centers

Claims like yours are governed under the Unfair Trade Practices act. It contains a catchall decpetive acts clause. It depends on what you want to do. You can write the CEO of the company an express your displeasure with the sales tactic and ask what steps he will take to reform them or you can sue if you have been monetarily damaged.
