Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Pennsylvania

Debt Collection Threats

I live in PA, and have a debt collector in Florida threatening to garnish wages, seize home equity, and freeze my checking account. Are these things that he can truly do? I am planning on filing bankruptcy in the very near future, and didnt know if he could do these things before I can file. Also, do you have to use western union quick collect, give them post dated checks over the phone or send the pmts via priority mail if they ask? Hes also telling me that those are the only way they will accept payment. Thank you!

Re: Debt Collection Threats

They can not garnish your wages. If your intent is to file for bankruptcy, then you should not pay them at all. Feel free to contact us for a free consultation, or another attorney before you go any further.
