Items purchased for a friend with no payment recieved

I worked for a company and purchased some tools and gave them to a friend with the understanding that he would pay me for the tools within the next month. Well months have know gone by without recieving payment for the tools that I purchased and already gave my friend. The price is $200. Should I send a letter to this person and what should it say. Whats my rights?

Re: Items purchased for a friend with no payment recieved

If you had a clear understanding you are owed $200 from your friend you are entitled to payment. At the very minimum he should return the tools to you. He would be liable for any loss or damage to the tools. You can send him a letter or file suit to enforce payment. Do you have any written documentation regarding the sale? If not I suggest that you write a letter to the "friend" setting forth the agreement and asking for payment. At least you can use that demand letter in a legal cause of action.
