Re: judgment filed against me

Most likely the "sale" was more of a referral to a collection agency or group of agencies that Sears uses. The FTC does not distinguish between a sale and collection activities for purposes of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. If you want to find out more about this, just do a Google search for Federal Trade Commission and Barry Sussman.

Re: judgment filed against me

with all due respect, it is very likely that this account was sold to the collection agency. bad debt is sold quite often in the united states, it is a booming business. the agency may have paid sears pennies on the dollar for the right to collect on the judgment against you. this is very legal.
