Legal Question in Criminal Law in Pennsylvania

Help!

i Found my wife cheating on me at a hotel. i kicked in a couple of doors looking for her. no-one was in the rooms i kicked open. they are trying to charge me with burglary. i didnt steal anything and there was no criminal content, i just wanted to know what was going on with my wife! what am i really looking at? also i am working with the owner of the hotel on paying for the damages!

On of the elements of Burglary is intent to commit a felony or petit larceny. Because you were kicking in doors the inferred felony might be assault. The fact your intent wasn't to steal doesn't matter.

The fact you're working with the property owner is a plus. He might be willing to drop the charges if you pay for the damage and promise never to come to the hotel. Otherwise each door kicked in would be a count of burglary. Each count would be a felony.

Securing the services of a defense attorney would be a good plan. The downside is significant jail time. On top of having to pay for the damages.
