At the Preliminary Hearing, The District Attorney will call witnesses to the stand, swear them in, and ask them questions under oath. The District Attorney will swear in the individual who called the police to report the incident of domestic violence. If they lie under oath when they are being questioned on the witness stand, they will be subjected to the penalties of perjury which may include a fine as well as jail time.
