Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

I am 15 years of age residing in Pennsylvania about 15 minutes from the Pa-Md border. My mother`s brother is living in Hagerstown, Maryland around 30-35 minutes away from my home where I live with my mother, she is thinking about sending me to a foster home, but I know that the state wouldn't want to the pay money so they would try to have a family member adopt me, most of my other relatives are either dead or too elderly to care for me. My mother is not violent, we both just cannot live with each other. How hard and how long would this take?

For what reason is she going to send to foster care? Foster care is used to place children who are being abused and neglected. To cover the cost of placement your mother and your father would be order to pay child support. Kinship care is another form of foster care where the foster parent is a relative. For support purposes it works just like foster care.

What happened to your father?

If your uncle is willing your mother could grant guardianship to your uncle. That doesn't take long but should if it happens occur over summer vacation so your schooling isn't interrupted.

I would talk to your Uncle about what is going on and see what he thinks of you living with him.
