Legal Question in Family Law in Pennsylvania

distribution of proceeds from sale of house

This pertains to the distribution of proceeds. My daughter, separated from her husband and they have just sold the house. They have a signed separation agreement that states he is responsible for all expenses, improvements mortgage, etc on the house as of the date of the agreement. His parents spent money to have work done in the house after the separation and now want their money back from the profits of the house. 50 % from each party. Can they legally claim this re-imbursement since there is a signed agreement and all expenses took place after the date agreed upon.

Re: distribution of proceeds from sale of house

That's a good question for her lawyer. The proceeds from the house are subject to equitable distribution. Of course that may be in the agreement. Without seeing the agreement I couldn't say.

If the soon to be ex in-laws have an agreement they can used to show that they were to get what they put in the house they may have a claim.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me. The initial consultation is free.
