Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Pennsylvania

Assaulted in my home

The mother of my step-daughter (father has custody-due to mother's drug use) came to our house to pick up daughter. The mother entered the house and was very hostile and left calling me vulgar names and punched me in the face. The police did not press charges because I didn't have a mark, but filed a report. Is there any way for the law to help me fight for what is right-I feel so helpless!

The other answer is right. Your County's local Bar Association can put you in touch with an attorney that frequently represents people in the same situation.

Re: Assaulted in my home

you should immediately file a Protection From Abuse Petition. You can do this on your own by contacting or going to your county Common Pleas Court Domestic Relations Office. Don't wait- the court will not entertain your petition if you wait. Good luck!!
