Re: Discrimination on membership

If you wish to join this club, I suggest you first send a certified letter to the club, renewing your desire for membership. Advise them you were denied membership when you were last there. Advise them you expect a written reply, and if they are denying your application, you want to know the basis for the rejection and a copy of their admission guidelines. Private clubs CAN discriminate. You can have an Italian-American club or a lawyers club or a club for reformed druids, but you can NOT discriminate against a handicapped reformed druid, unless it is the reformed druid mountain climbing club, where your mobility can legitimately exclude you.

Try the letter first. Trere is a good chance that that "one person" does not accurately represent the club. If they are stupid and prejudiced, you will just be in a better position to file a complaint with the PA Division of Civil Rights.

Good Luck.
