Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Pennsylvania

law suit

I was involved in a auto accident in July 99'. My passenger is now suing me for my personal assests. I really do not own anything, I have a little money in savings and I own a used car. What will see be able to take from me? Do I need to worry about losing everything that I do have? Thanks!

Re: law suit

Everything, and yes, you do. If you had auto insurance at the time of the accident, report the accident and lawsuit to your insurance agent immediately. If not, Chapter 7 (liquidation) bankruptcy is an option. In general, you get to keep $5000 worth of assets and the filing of the bankruptcy petition is an automatic stay of lawsuits against you.

This is general information for discussion purposes. We would have to have an attorny-client relationship for me to give legal advice.
