Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Pennsylvania

liability of township for halfway house residents.

My township is allowing a drug rehab house to be built less than a mile from my home. It will house 25 drug addicted men, some with mental disorders. i am very concerned because we have a two year old son. Do we have any rights to block the currrent construction? What is the responsibility of the township to keep residents safe? If, heaven forbid, something bad happen to my family or property what responsibility do they hold allow this place in a residental suburb.

This sounds like a Zoning battle. If you've lost the zoning battle I don't know that there is anything you can do about it. If you have not yet had the zoning battle, assuming that the drug rehab facility is proposed as an exception or variance to your township zoning ordinance, you may certainly contest the application. It is best to do so as soon as possible and to get as many of your neighbors involved as possible.
