Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Pennsylvania

Retreive Equipment taken

As I was absent from my workplace for a period of time due to health reasons, a so called freind had taken a skidloader out of my shop without authorization. Now that I need it back, he will not return my numerous phone calls. I am thinking of sending him a registered letter. What legal actions can I take to get equipment back.

Re: Retreive Equipment taken

How much is it worth?

You can bring an action in court against him for the skidloader or it's value.

Good luck to you.

Re: Retreive Equipment taken

They took it without authorization.

Sounds like theft by taking to me. Have you tried calling the police?

They might agree with me or not but its worth a shot. If nothing else a visit by the police tends to get ones attention.

Re: Retreive Equipment taken

If the prior advice about police involvement does not work, you need to file what we call a Replevin Action. If the value of the item is less that $8K, check with your local DJ Court to see if they will hear that type of case. If not, you'll need a lawyer to file in regular Common Pleas Court. Good luck!!
