Generally if a husband and wife are living together or still husband and wife the spouse may be required to provide financial support under various programs such as medicaid etc. if the parties are separated then the needy spouse certainly would have an action for support against the wife. if the parties are together the spouse may be required to sign responsibility document on admission to hospitals or nursing care facilities.
