Legal Question in Personal Injury in Pennsylvania

Auto Accident settlements

I currently have an attorney representing me for an auto accident of which I am the victim. I am disappointed with the information my attorney is telling regarding my ''typical case'' settlement. I have been told by individuals who were in a similar type of accident (back injury), and everyone of them stated the amount they settled for was three times that of the medical expenses. Is this true? My lawyer did not triple the amount in the initial offer letter and the insurance company came back with 1/8 of the amount from that letter. I know each case is specific, however I will not be receiving even half of the medical expenses.
