Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Pennsylvania

Squaters Rights

A neighbor just told me he owns part of the property I have had and maintained for 10 years. After searching it seems he may be correct. I have filled in the land through the years and maintained the creek bed per the DPAs instructions and feel he has abandoned it. What are my squaters rights?

Re: Squaters Rights

The history of the property must be throughly reviewed by an attorney. Unless you can establish a period of twenty one years of possession adverse to the owner, you will not be successful in claiming ownership. You have a potential claim against the owner for improvements. This situation is quite complex and I strongly suggest you have the matter reviewed by competent legal counsel. If I can be of any assistence let me know. Gerald Hershenson 215-579-9390
