Notification about Wills

If a will has already been written and is being held by an attorney, is it necessary to notify the attorney if a new will is being written and not being given to that attorney?

No....but why are you leaving your will with an attorney? Contact my office if you need help with drafting your new will.

you dont need to notify the attorney who drafted the old will, but under any circumstances, there is no reason for any attorney to keep the original will. when you have the new one drafted, you make sure to get the original. the attorney should keep a copy.
