Misrepresentation of Person/Breech of Contract
Do I have a right to seek the monies back that I have paid to a contractor who stated that they were licensed when they are not (just registered). Contract states that work was to be completed by 1/30/07 unless extension was requested in writing, none was given after several requests. Work is shoddy and the ''sub-contractors'' have no registration or experience. Contractor has no listed employees. According to the Contractor's board, the contractor is a listed as a ''general contractor'' and is not allowed to do electrical work. The only ''electrician'' that I have had in my home is a supposed ''apprentice'' of a ''Master Electrician'' whom I have never met or contracted with. I have no itemized list of the cost of each project and now it is declared that the electrical part that was in excess of 1000.00, has now been changed to ''over $5000.00 to re-wire the whole house'' (all I wanted done was to have several ceiling fans put in to ceilings that have no existing lighting - I have plenty of room on my fuse panel). Since this price increase, I stated that I do not want the electrical part done. Now the contractor wants to settle this bill due to breech in contract.What are my legal right? Due to the misrepresentation,can I sue the contactor?

You almost assuredly have a claim to get out of the remainder of the contract. Consult a local attorney because you may have to litigate.
