Legal Question in Criminal Law in South Carolina

assigning a lawyer

How does the state assign a lawyer for someone who can not afford to represent themselves. In this case the child is 16, being tried as an adult. We want this to be remanded back to DJJ. He has never had a job and therefore has no money to pay.

A person can fill out an application for a Public Defender. They can contact the court, the solicitor's office or their local Public Defender's office and ask how they can get, fill out and submit the application. Good luck.
