Funeral bills Small Claims Court

Can I take the person who muredred my son to small claims court and make him pay the funeral bills? He does not have anything of value so a wrongful death suit would be a waste of my time and money. Unless he has any interest in his parents assessts, he has nothing. Could the judge make him pay my grandson any monies he makes in jail?
