Legal Question in Family Law in South Carolina

My husband is in the navy and I was a housewife. he took all our money and kicked me out. now he is hiring a lawyer to divorce me. How do I get a lawyer? will I have to settle just because I dont have one? He left me homeless! can he do this? He is getting money from the navy every month for an allowance for his dependents,ie, me, and I have nothing except what I could run out the door with.

He can only do those things if you allow him to do so. You really need to get an attorney involved to help protect you and your interests in this case. If you cannot afford one, then you should at least contact the SC Center for Justice (www.scjustice.org), as they may be able to assist you at no cost if you meet their income requirements.

These are complex issues, and it is important that they be handled correctly. Therefore, it is important that you consult an experienced family law attorney to find out what options are available to you based on the facts of your particular case.

If you need more information, you can visit my family law blog (www.SCFamilyLaw.com) or our website (www.SpartanburgLawyers.com). I wish you the best of luck.
