Legal Question in Civil Litigation in South Carolina

I loaned my boyfriend 200 dollars. When I asked for it back he told me he was so sorry he had to take it in the first place and that he would like to give me 500 dollars for my trouble. So I got a text from him responding to me asking for the 500 and him saying he would give me 500. As of yet he keeps coming up with lies for why he can't give me the money and I wanted to know if I went to court with the text message and asked for 500 would I get it because as of right now I can't get anything from him.

From what you have described, it sounds like the $200 is a debt and $300 is a gift. You cannot sue someone for a gift.
