Legal Question in Intellectual Property in South Carolina

A matter of copyright

I regret signing away rights of songs I wrote

to my previous church under the ''for hire'' part of the law.

I know that the signed information has been sent in to be

copyrighted already, but I also know that no confirmation has been made yet-it is still pending. Is it too late-can I change my mind and contact the copyright administration????

Re: A matter of copyright

If I understand you correctly, you have signed a work for hire agreement making the church the author of some songs you wrote specially for the church, but now you want to keep them for yourself. To challenge that at this late stage would take special correspondence with the Copyright Office and probably require proof of some sort of trickery or fraud. That might be expensive.

Is there any way the registant would voluntarily assign the copyright back to you or cancel the work for hire agreement? Have you tried?

You should get a local copyright lawyer versed in employee reports
