Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in South Carolina

what happens if the landlord sells the property

If my landlord sells the property I am renting, does it make our lease null and void...and if so does he owe me my last month and deposit that I paid up front?

Re: what happens if the landlord sells the property

No, your Lease is not affected by the sale of the property. Neither you or your current or future landlord can cancel it unless both sides agree. The new owner takes the property subject to your rights under the Lease. If you want to stay, your current landlord is required by law to transfer your security deposit to the new owner/landlord who remains bound by the terms of your Lease until it expires and even then, he can only makes changes that are reasonable.
