Legal Question in Product Liability in South Carolina

Recall on car refused by dealership

I purchased a used 95 Grand Am. From day 1 the car would not always crank on the 1st try, after about 2 mos. I had the car out and when I put the key in the ignition it didn't start and caught on fire. I had the car towed to Firestone where I was told the fire started in the ignition switch and caused major damage to the car. 3 mos. later I recieved a recall from Pontiac on this EXACT problem. The consequences were EXACTLY what had already happened to my car. I towed it to the dealership, I was made to pay $543.00 and the recall was never fixed. The car is not driveable yet and it has been 1 yr. since the fire. I have made over 50 calls to Pontiac headquarters and have gotten no where, not even a refund of repairs that were never authorized. I have a ton of documentation on this.

Re: Recall on car refused by dealership

A friend of mine who is an attorney has handled this exact type of problem. I'm answering this question from my home and do not have his number here. However, if you would like to call during the week I would be happy to give you his number. There are specific laws that apply to your situation and he can probably help.
