Legal Question in Civil Litigation in South Dakota

I had helped out my son for several years by paying for several things for him that he asked (i have a list), in the mean time he wanted to buy a vehicle from me (he has the vehicle) and told me that he would pay so much in payments and would include the past that i had helped him with. I have been sending him statements as to how much he owes but has not been paying anything to me. I do have his signature and how much he agreed to pay. Do i have legal recourse to have him pay me back?

Yes, you can sue him for breach of his promise to pay. Depending on the amount involved, you may be able to do this yourself in small claims court ($12,000.00). Otherwise, you should hire an attorney in your area to sue him.
