Legal Question in Family Law in South Dakota

Bank account problems

I was divorced a year ago. My ex surrendered the joint account at one bank and I did that to the other. I never removed her name off the account due to her keeping the home mortage which both names were on from my banking institution. There was a verbal agrement that she would refinance the home and I would remove her name from my account. Now her attorney threatened me saying that if I did not remover her name, that my Ex would close the checking account. She did, even after I had the bank change her status to ''no transaction''. Do I have any leg to srand on or am I just up a creek without a paddle?

Re: Bank account problems

You're up the creek WITH a paddle.

This is exactly why divorce judgments should be precise. You're going to need to either negotiate this or go back into court.

In any event, bag this verbal stuff and get it in writing.
