Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in South Dakota

Lease

I signed a one year lease agreement

back on Jan 1 2009. Since then the

person I was living with (not on the

lease) and I have broken up forcing

me to pay everything on my own and

I'm a full time student cannot afford

it. To make matters worse I

voluntarily put myself on short term

disability at work and entered into a

partial hospitalization program for

depression issues. I seriously cannot

afford living here anymore would

documentation of my disability and

treatment be enough to get me out

of my lease?

Re: Lease

Perhaps, but only if you LL agrees and empathizes.

Is your LL an individual or company?

Are you willing to pay for an AD or a sign?

Are you willing to make the unit presentable and show it for prospective tenants?

I have been a LL 28 years, and would suggest you directly approach your LL re: above possibilities.

If you can rerent it to a suitable tenant, LL should be receptive.
