Legal Question in Bankruptcy in Tennessee

Chapter 13 Bankruptcy law

In 1995 I could not pay for my rent due my landlord. So I went to a lawyer to suggest what I could do about it. He suggested filing bankruptcy chapter 13.. So I went along with it. Without knowing it would show up on my credit report. So I did not go through the whole process including meeting with creditors. So it was discharged in the next month as of this day it is still on my report and it is huting me in getting a house and low interest payments. The lawyer mislead me and I'am paying for it. what canbe done about this. It has been 4 years and I will pay for your services if necessary to remove it from my credit report. CONTACT ME SOON.....

Re: Chapter 13 Bankruptcy law

Well, this isn't really a bankruptcy issue. You need a consumer credit attorney or some such attorney dealing with credit. If your case was discharged (which I think is unlikely) then it will remain on your credit report for 10 years. If it was dismissed (which is what I think you meant) then you should be able to have that notated on your credit report. However, I don't think there is anything wrong with a credit agency reporting that you filed a ch. 13, because you did. However, as I said, it's not my area of expertise.
