Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Tennessee

Neighbor is listening to phone conversation

We found out that our neighbor is listening to our phone conversations over a police scanner. If it is something to their interest they record the conversation. They pick up the conversation when we use a cordless phone. We are not talking to the people that are recording the coversation. Is this legal? Can the police do anything?

Re: Neighbor is listening to phone conversation

At present it is not illegal to record transmissions from a portable phone, although improper use of the information obtained may be.

Your best advice is to use either a hard-wired phone or a cordless phone programmed for security.
