Legal Question in Criminal Law in Tennessee

Had a misdameanor citation for driving w/ suspended license. A month later got theft of property 500-1000 but I didn't still anything! I was pulled over, my gun I bought off the street ended up being dirty. I seriously had no idea. They are talkin about takin my gun permit and locking me up on the class e felony court date jist because the judge says she is "cleaning up house" the citation had nothing to do with this new charge though. Can she lock me up even if I show to court? I also posted bond if that makes any difference. Please help!! What do I do?

Can the judge require that you post a bail bond instead of leaving you free under a citation?

Yes.

Any event that increases the risk that a defendant will not appear in court may give a judge good reason to require a bond, or increase a bond.

Getting arrested for felony theft of property, especially in possession of a "gun I bought off the street" is certainly a reason to think that there is increased risk that you will fail to appear for court.

Still, any bond must be reasonably related to the purpose of insuring that the Defendant will appear for trial.
