Legal Question in Medical Leave in Tennessee

Losing vacation time

I work for the railroad and have qualified and recieved FMLA. I think my entitlement is 12 weeks of FMLA a year. When I take a day off under the FMLA....the railroad not only deducts a day from the total days of FMLA that I'm entitled to....they also deduct one of my personal leave days or vacation days. These are days that up until this year....they have never touched. Now they take one of each when I take a FMLA day off. so in reality...when I take a day off under FMLA...it cost me two days....one of them FMLA..the other is a vacation day. Is this permitted by the FMLA law.?

Re: Losing vacation time

Yes, an employer may require you to take sick, personal or vacation days along with your FMLA leave.
