Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Tennessee

I have a prefected judgement. The person who owes me has a lawsuit he is trying to win. How do I get my money from a guy if he wins a lawsuit? What process or forms must I file?

The judgment, if final and non-appealable will create a lien on all real property the judgment debtor owns in any county in which the judgment is recorded in the Register of Deeds Office. There is no similar mechanism to get a lien on the lawsuit or its proceeds simply by filing the judgment.

You could issue a garnishment on the lawsuit proceeds. It would be served on the individual your judgment debtor is suing; Be careful to insure that it is timely renewed so they don't let the garnishment expire, then settle the case and cut you out.

Hope this helps.
