Legal Question in Technology Law in Texas

protect website platform

I am currently creating a website platform that will allow tranportation companies to communicate online with there customers. I have a fortune 500 company buying the platform but I want to protect the coding and technology. This platform will be resold. Is it possible to patent the site. Do I copyright it? How do I protect the platform so nobody else will try to steal my coding or produce something similar?

Register for copyright protection. Software is considered writing for copyright law. If your code embodies a unique algorythm, then you might be eligible to have it patented. If not, then copyright is your best bet. You can also use trade secret protection by having anyone to whom you show the program execute a non-disclosure agreement.
