Legal Question in Consumer Law in Texas

Defective Electronic ~ Do I Have To Pay Interest?

I bought from Best Buy but unknown to me or Best Buy the product was defective, while I was resolving the issue w/ Mitsubishi I did not make any payments because I felt it was wrong that I was having to pay for a defected item. Mean while Mitsubishi was willing to work w/ me and then after year and half my product was replaced and I am now reworking the finance part which I learned is bought from Mitsubishi and is completly seperate. Now my problem is that the finance company is fighting me and saying that I must now pay all the interest since I did not make any payments BUT again the only reason I did not is because the product was a DEFECT that Mitsubishi has now acknowledged and have replaced free of charge YET they are saying they did there part and the financing/interest is no longer under their control. Who is right in this matter?? And What do/or can I do about this? I truly feel I have done no wrong, this is not a case of not having the money but it's the principal. I am not going to pay for something that I thought was top of the line and the Company finally admitting that it was a defect but later agreed the product was bad and replaced it but NOW I'm fighting the finance company which I assumed was Mitsubishi. Advise?

Read the contract. Did you notify the finance company in writing of the dispute involved, based on the defect? What are the terms of the contract regarding the no-interest financing? Whether you have a valid case depends upon whether you properly followed the terms of the contract.
